Last Sunday, a small but dedicated team gave a much-needed upgrade to the eroded pathway at the Windansea Parking Lot. The effort was led by five members of the Friends of Windansea: Mark Feighan (pictured), Karl Luber, Adam Bloomberg, Jim Neri, Melinda Merryweather, and Alan Connin from GFG Landscape. They were joined by four City of San Diego Park Rangers, including Joel Prospero (also pictured), to complete the project.
To improve the durability of the pathway while preserving its natural appearance, the crew incorporated a material called Granitecrete into the existing decomposed granite surface. This innovative blend offers the strength and stability of concrete but remains as permeable as natural soil, preventing future erosion while maintaining the organic look of the path.
This latest improvement is part of an ongoing effort by Friends of Windansea to care for and preserve one of La Jolla’s most cherished beach spots.
