Before:
Public access to the coast is an integral part of La Jolla’s early planning and charm and a priority of Friends of Windansea. These public access ways thread their way between private development throughout La Jolla and many have fallen into disrepair.

Friends saw this tricky drop at the end of the Winamar Public Access and envisioned a solution in keeping with the design of existing improvements. In 2017 plans were submitted to the city to provide a safe public access.

The walkway leading down to the beach jeopardize public safety

Sketches were prepared for all of the proposed and improved beach access stairs and were presented for public comment and approval before construction documents were drawn.

Under the leadership of Landscape Architect Jim Neri of Friends of WindanSea, drawing were made to provide a safe access to the beach.

After:
The result are well used stairs for safe public access to the beach.

Now the Public has safe access to the beach
